Last summer I spent 3 months in the French Riviera (Nice), where I stayed with a host family. My experience with a 'Host mom' was incredible, and I'd love to open up my home and do the same for students who are looking to improve their English, or immerse themselves in the American culture. I live by myself in a 4 bedroom, 2-story house in Southern California. You will have your own bedroom/bathroom. We are about 45 minutes from LA, 1 hour 30 mins from San Diego, and centrally located to everything. There are beautiful parks, hiking trails, and infamous beaches in Orange County, all of which are minutes away. It's a peaceful neighborhood, and on weekends we will do excursions in nearby cities. We will go to LA a few times, visit the beaches in Orange County, and visit some beautiful nearby towns. From Mo-Fri, I work from home from 7am-2:30pm. During this time, I can offer you a fun job shadowing opportunity, focused on Travel and Social Media (TikTok & Instagram), where you can help me grow my travel company through engagement on social media, and do some fun research on travel in other countries. It will be simple but fun, and keep you busy for the hours I am working :) After work, we can do things like explore the town/neighborhoods together, cook, take nature walks, & enjoy some good food. On the weekends, we will go to LA and do some fun excursions with my friends & family.

Hello! We are a family of 5, but our eldest is no longer living at home. I'm Amber (mom). Stuart (dad) and I live in San Diego with our two younger children Wini and Michael. I'm a nurse and he's a product manager who gets to work from home. I work Monday-Friday in a clinic, but have the weekends and holidays off. We have a nice big pool in the backyard and the hiking trails are very near to us. The weekends are full of outdoor activities when it isn't too hot to be outdoors. We also have aircon, so enjoy a cool afternoon when it IS too hot out. The beach is about a 15 minute drive, so that's also a nice way to cool off in the summer heat. We would like to host a French student this summer for multiple reasons. The cultural exchange would be enriching for our family. The language practice would help as we are all trying to improve our spoken French. When I was in high school, there was an exchange student and I always wanted the opportunity to host, so now that I'm at a point in my life to be able to do so, I want to offer my home to a student looking for that adventure!

She has been studying French since 7th grade and will be going to France this summer for four weeks. I (Elisabeth), work from home as a communications consultant focused on public transit. I lived in Strasbourg, France in college with a host family, though my French is rather rusty! I enjoy walking, baking, reading and traveling. Seth works for Disney as a lawyer for TV production and enjoys walking, reading, playing video games and traveling. We have two cats, Ivy and Will, who are very friendly and love being pet! During the week, we are fairly busy with work and school, but after dinner, we go for walks or Sarah and Seth will play a video game. Nandini (my wife) works four days a week and I work for seven consecutive days every other week. We are planning to host for three weeks, out of which I will be working for two weeks and will be off for one week. During the week I am working, the guest will be spending more time with Kushi on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays. Nandini is off on Thursdays and Weekends. Neena has research internship from 9 am to 3 pm during weekdays. We often spend our time together as a family with outings, celebrations, hobbies including taking day trips during the weekends. Molly, our pet dog, is 6 years old. She is an outdoor dog. Our family trip to Paris in March 2023 has inspired us to learn more about French Culture. Kushi is interested in learning French Language.

I am a stay-at-home mom and my husband works for a big construction company. We have two children: a girl aged 6 and a boy aged 2 1/2. My husband and children do not speak French. Our home is a 2-story Dutch Colonial farmhouse with 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half baths. We live on 5 acres (2 hectares) in a rural area just outside Sacramento, 10 minutes from downtown and the Capitol, and 15 minutes from the Sacramento Airport (SMF). Our neighbors have sheep, goats, cows and chickens. We have chickens (hens only) and ducks and in the summer we usually have a friend's horses on the property. There are 2 houses on the property: I live in one with my family, and my mother and her husband live in the other. They are both retired. My mother is a former French and English teacher (she taught English for 13 years in France and then French and ESL in the universities around Sacramento), and her husband was an Air Traffic Controller and Airline Pilot. My mom is a former competitive water skier and ski coach. She still skis almost daily in the summer at a private site that includes 3 competition ski lakes and a ski school. We often go with the children and spend an afternoon swimming, water skiing, and riding in the boat. There are interesting places to visit around Sacramento: Sacramento is the capital of California and we can visit the Capitol. It was also the center of the Gold Rush and has some interesting museums. Old Sacramento has been preserved exactly as it was during the Gold Rush - the Wild West. It's fun to visit Old Sacramento. I have included a photo of us taken in Old Sacramento dressed in Wild West clothes, which is one of the fun things to do there. There are also some interesting old Gold Rush towns in the hills around Sacramento. San Francisco is not far away and we can make a day trip to San Francisco. Lake Tahoe is not far away and we can visit Lake Tahoe too. There are lots of things to see and do here and we look forward to showing our guest around! I lived in France as a child and am hoping that my children will learn French. I enjoy helping young French students experience this country and culture, and when I was young helped my mom when she hosted some students from France. We would love it if our guest would devote an hour each day teaching some French to the children, but this is not a requirement.

We have time to share our beautiful city with a curious traveler! We love nature walks, all the performing arts, museums and taking a drive to nearby natural wonders. We live steps away from a boulevard with shops, restaurants, food carts, cafés and vintage shopping. Portland is full of parks, gardens, nature walks and in a short drive we can visit waterfalls, mountains, beaches, farms and rivers. We like cooking and having shared meals. Rita likes doing her creative endeavors and Mike likes movies, cooking, fixing cars and nature. We have a 2 level outdoor deck which is a relaxing place to read, draw or sip on a coffee. Our home is fairly spacious with a remodeled daylight basement where our guest would stay, and 2 upper levels that are not yet fully remodeled. There are 3 toilets- one one each level and one shower/bath . Our house is 116 years old so full disclosure we are in process of renovating but everything is clean and functional . Our cousins enjoy coming for a visit!

J’aime particulièrement la musculation, la course, les activités en extérieur et tout ce qui permet de garder un mode de vie sain et dynamique. Je m’intéresse aussi beaucoup à la mode, aux voyages, à la découverte de nouvelles cultures et aux rencontres. Mes journées sont souvent bien remplies entre les cours, le sport, les entraînements liés aux pompiers, le travail personnel et les moments passés avec mes proches. J’aime avoir des objectifs, rester motivée et toujours chercher à progresser, autant personnellement que dans mes études. Je me suis inscrite sur cette plateforme parce que je pense qu’une expérience à l’étranger dans une famille d’accueil peut énormément m’apporter. J’aimerais découvrir le monde, améliorer mon anglais, gagner en autonomie et créer de vraies connexions avec des personnes venant d’autres cultures. Les États-Unis m’attirent particulièrement, et surtout la Floride, car j’aimerais plus tard faire mes études en Amérique du Nord, notamment à Florida International University. Pour moi, cette expérience représenterait bien plus qu’un simple voyage : ce serait une vraie aventure humaine et une opportunité de grandir énormément.
